Haines Watts Scotland are looking for a Graduate Chartered Accountant to join our team in Summer 2020.

A trainee in our team will need to be structured, organised and have a flair for work of a technical nature. The role requires someone who has the ability to concentrate and gather facts and information to perform a variety of assignments. 
 
They should be enthusiastic, inquisitive, eager and quick to learn. They should relish constructive feedback and act upon it. Consistency and the ability to tie up loose ends and finish a job are important along with the ability to understand the wider client objective. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Work as part of a team, portraying a professional image at all times.
  • Understand the objectives of the technical process, complete processes as designed, demonstrate competent use of relevant systems, succinctly summarise results and draw appropriate conclusions. 
  • Gain a good understanding of each client worked on. 
  • Agree assignment objectives and roles with line manager (or the person responsible for the job) before starting every job, be proactive in obtaining feedback, both verbal and written, take on board constructive comments and acts upon them, demonstrate resilience and enthusiasm to learn. 
  • Achieve good passes in all professional and advanced examinations. 
  • Attend internal and external training courses as required, being participative and professional throughout, take away and implement new knowledge. 
  • Review workload going forward, take ownership of own work, make arrangements ahead of time, identify periods of quiet time and highlight to line manager. 
  • Communicate regularly with the senior or manager on the progress and findings during a job, work to a set time budget, meet deadlines, ask appropriate questions to aid understanding. 
  • Establish a good level of rapport with the team and clients quickly and easily. 
  • Liaise with colleagues confidently and constructively. 
  • Prepare accurate work using relevant systems, includes completion of disclosure checklists, be aware of the accounting and disclosure requirements contained in companies legislation and regulatory requirements. 
  • Make efficient use of all relevant IT systems, search out errors, rectify omissions, actively researching technical requirements and consistently delivers to a high standard 
  • Undertake any other tasks as required
