Graduate Apprentice – Accounting
As part of this graduate apprenticeship the successful applicant will spend their time working with the accounts department at our Peterhead Head Quarters. The delivery format of the degree involves working on the job in the accounts office while undertaking the stages of the 5-year BA(Hons) Accounting partnership with Score and Robert Gordon University. The degree is delivered as a work-based qualification in line with the timetable of the university. There will be “on campus” days in which the apprentice must attend the business school at Aberdeen for 4-8 days per academic year. This will be supplemented by online activates, webinars, discussion forums, and ongoing workplace delivery and experience. Through years 2-4 you will be given placements in various Score accounting functions to suit our operational needs and the subjects being delivered by Robert Gordon University. Each apprentice will be allocated a mentor and supervisor to support their development.
The apprentice will build knowledge of Score’s accounting services and undertake tasks and projects within their competency. These tasks will be extended as the GA progresses. Those completing the programme will be skilled to undertake analysis of financial and management accounting, corporate and business law, tax, audit and assurance processes.
What skills will I Learn?
Year 1
Developing knowledge and understanding of Management context and the Business Environment as well as engaging with core accounting and finance topics.
Year 2
Widening knowledge of and developing analysis skills within financial and management accounting. Developing knowledge of key areas of Corporate and Business Law relevant to accounting. Understanding and application of the impact of digital business on accounting.
Year 3
Applying knowledge and demonstrating critical analysis skills within core accounting areas such as Management Accounting, Tax and Audit and Assurance.
Year 4
ICAS Route: Critical analysis of contemporary accounting issues and advanced financial management. Study for the ICAS Test of Professional Skills exams – Financial Reporting, Assurance and Data and Risk and Technology.
Year 5
ICAS Route: Study for the ICAS Test of Professional Skills exams – Business Taxation and Strategic Finance and Modelling. Study for the Test of Professional Expertise Case Study exam.

Entry Requirements
Our preferred applicants will have a minimum of:
· 4 x B at Higher including English and a Business Studies, Accounting, or other business-related subject.
· HNC Business or Accounting discipline.
As part of the selection process applicants that meet the above entry requirements will be invited to undertake an aptitude test. Successful applicants will then be taken forward to the next stage of the selection process.
