Trainee Chartered Accountant
We are a long-established independent firm of Chartered Accountants and registered auditors, based in Glasgow city centre and Prestwick. We aim to provide the full range of accountancy and tax skills that most small and medium sized businesses need, whilst retaining the personal touch to ensure that a strong professional relationship is maintained.
Our client base is built around working with small and medium sized businesses to assist them with their book keeping (including Xero and Sage software), management and year end accounts preparation along with appropriate personal and corporate tax compliance and advice. We are also payroll providers and can assist clients with HMRC investigations and enquiries.
Consequently, we provide a range of services to organisations in several different sectors and this inherent variety helps to ensure our trainees can learn something new with every assignment. As the trainee progresses through their training contract to a more senior level, they will be given increasing degrees of responsibility inline with that development.
We are looking for a graduate to join our team as part of the three year CA training programme commencing in ICAS term one 2026. Candidates should have a good understanding of the CA programme, a strong academic record, an attention to detail and good interpersonal skills.
Eligible candidates will have obtained a 2.1 degree or above in an ICAS-accredited accountancy degree, with appropriate exemptions from the first level of the CA qualification (i.e., Knowledge level). The candidate should also have a minimum of four Scottish (or equivalent) Higher grades at A or B level, and these must include English and Mathematics.
As part of the CA training programme, trainees attend classes as they study towards each different level of the qualification – we support our trainees during this process, including time off to attend classes, paid study & exam leave and other assistance as required.
Many of our current CA-qualified staff trained with us and as such can offer guidance and support throughout the ICAS journey. In addition, our current trainees are in regular contact with our Student Counselling Partner to discuss their experience to date, and any work or exam issues.
In your role, you will work flexibly across our client base, both at our offices and at client’s premises. Some travel will be required for work and because much of our work is seasonal in nature, you can expect a greater workload at busier times in the year.
The successful candidate will be rewarded with a commensurate salary, pension package and four weeks holiday per annum, plus all statutory holidays (currently twelve days). We also cover the costs of the ICAS training contract (class, registration, exemption & book fees, along with exam fees for the first attempt).
Please submit your application for the position through the ICAS “Become a CA” website – we look forward to hearing from you.
