ROLE: Apprentice Trainee Accountant
Aver are looking to recruit an Apprentice Trainee Accountant who will take part in the Graduate Apprentice Scheme which is run in conjunction with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. The Trainee Accountant will be enrolled in the programme which will take place over the next five years, and at the end of which, if successful, will result in a recognised degree and also membership of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland as a Chartered Accountant.
Aver is a small boutique practice specialising in Corporate Recovery, Forensic Accounting and Criminal Investigation work. Aver do not offer traditional services such as audit and tax.
Aver will train you to be a Chartered Accountant who will be able to undertake all accounting and other assignments, specialising in the following skills:
· data analysis and accounting;
· understanding and applying legislation including but not limited to Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Bankruptcy Scotland Act, Proceeds of Crime Act;
· analysing company financial information;
· asset tracing;
· litigation support;
· using the appropriate legislation to review and comment on the conduct of directors;
· valuation of shares or businesses in civil litigation disputes;
· preparation of Reports over a range of assignments.
We believe this role will be suitable for a school leaver or someone looking to enter higher education with a view of attaining a degree and professional qualification through a non-traditional route.
Entry Requirements
· Minimum of 4 Highers, or equivalent, at B grade or above (preferably Maths and English); OR
· Equivalent or non-standard qualifications (including Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships, SVQs/NVQs and access programmes) or relevant work experience which would equip applications with an equivalent starting point for the course (considered on an individual basis); and
· The right to live and work in Scotland
Recommended Skills
· Good general I.T. skills, particularly use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
· Good written and communication skills;
· Work well as part of a team;
· Willingness to get involved with team discussions.
This is an office-based role. The successful applicant will be expected to take part in all aspects of the practice. which may involve off-site work away from the office premises. The standard working hours are 9am to 5:30pm. Candidates will be expected on rare occasions to work other than normal office hours.
The course at Robert Gordon University will commence in September 2022, however earlier start dates for commencing work with Aver may be considered.
