Who we are

ICAS was the first professional accountancy body, created by Royal Charter in 1854. With over 21,000 members working in the UK and in more than 100 countries around the world, ICAS is the world-class network promoting, inspiring and enabling professional excellence in CAs. The majority of our working members work in business, leading some of the UK's and the world's greatest companies. Other members work in accountancy practices ranging from the Big Four to the small practitioner. We regulate our members and their firms and represent our members on a wide range of issues in accountancy, finance and business. We seek to influence policy in the UK and globally, always acting in the public interest.

We are an educator, examiner, regulator, and thought leader, currently training around 3,000
talented students to become the next generation of CAs.  We provide a rigorous professional
qualification, combining expert tuition, relevant workplace experience, and unrivalled support and guidance. The CA qualification is one of the most highly regarded professional accounting
qualifications, known for its credibility and prestige in the wider business community. We are one of the only chartered accountancy bodies to create our own syllabus, teaching materials and exams. With training centres throughout the UK, our CAs come from a multitude of backgrounds. ICAS runs a huge variety of events designed to encourage our members to connect, network, and learn. These include CA dinners around the world, masterclasses on special interest topics, speed mentoring events, and the latest exhibitions.
